Looters have targeted homes and businesses in Maui amid a shortage of food, water and other supplies following wildfires that have killed at least 96 people.

Residents in Lahaina, the historic town destroyed by the fires, claim people have also been ‘robbed at gunpoint’.

The devastating fires spread on Tuesday last week and have left much of Lahaina in ruins. Search and rescue is ongoing and a massive humanitarian effort is also underway to supply essentials and medical care to people on Maui.
